Butyric acid is a short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) created by friendly bacteria breaking down dietary fiber in the gut. This and other SCFAs provide energy to colon cells, and supports the health and healing of cells in the small and large intestine. 

Studies have shown that Butyric Acid may support weight loss, colorectal cancer, irritable bowel syndrome, crohn's disease, and insulin resistance. It also has a broad anti-inflammatory effect.
